Pride and Prejudice.
In July and August 2004 a film crew arrived in Stamford to film part of a new production of Pride and Prejudice.Burghley House was one location and St.George's Square and St.Mary's Street was another. The latter two location had been used when the BBC filmed Middlemarch. This time though it took scene builders six weeks to transform the area for the set. This latest production starred Dame Judy Dench, Kiera Knightley and Donald Sutherland

Above left is a nice view of the town taken from Bath Row. Centre and right the tranformation on the Art's Centre gets under way.
Above a false front is built onto the Art's Centre.

Above left: This building was built across the street and ended up as a Butchers.

Work slowly progresses on the Arts Centre.

On the right you can see a false wall being put in place.

More building being transformed in St.Mary's Street.

Over 200 local people were used as extras for the filming with three large marques assembled on the Recreation Ground housing the costumes.
